March-April

Spring has sprung in Ohio. It's time to check out your ponds and lakes. Hopefully, no dead fish are floating around the sides from winter kill.

When we have as much snow nad ice as we did this year, it's very possible to have winter kill.

Also, start watching for sick or dead adult Blue Gill. Bacteria Gill Disease is likely from now until the 1st of June. If you think that is happening to your Blue Gill, call us right away so we can tell you how to stop the problem.

Perch have also started to lay eggs and this is a good time to stock or re-stock, whichever is the case. I bet your bass would like some feeder minnows to eat after a long winter!

Come and see us and get some feeder minnows to keep the food chain rolling.

If you use pond dye to help control the pond weeds, now is when you should be using it. We have Crystal Blue pond dye in stock.

Check out our fish sale dates and locations for this spring.

October/November

This update for your pond comes late. The water temperatures are dropping with each hard frost we have.

If your pond stays too warm to support trout in the summer, now would be a good time to stock trout. We sell 10" - 12" trout. Put them in this fall and catch them all out by next June.

If you don't have trout, the warm water fish like Blue Gill and Catfish will be slowing down on the feeding of pellets, if you feed pellets. Store the feed you have left over in a cold, dry place for next spring.

It is a good idea to stock some feeder minnows in the fall. It gives the adult fish something easy to catch and eat over the winter.

If your pond doesn't have a good wayer source or aereation, you may want to consider some kind of aereation. We sell a windmill that pumps air into the water, and also a fountain that will aereate the water. Either will prevent winter kill.

We just received a shipment of 5" - 8" walleye, 10" - 12" pike, and 12" tiger muskies. Call for price and availability.
